The drug warfarin is most commonly used as a blood thinner. It helps to reduce blood clots in the veins and arteries, and it also reduces the risk of heart failure and strokes. Patients take this drug to reduce the likelihood of blood clots forming in the body.
Anavar increases the anticoagulant effect and serum concentration of warfarin. Anabolic steroids and androgens increase the risk of bleeding because they of the hypoprothrombinemic response to oral anticoagulants they show. Within two or three days, the duration of the interaction between the drugs can be observed.
A clinical study revealed that 10 to 20 MG anavar administration increased the half-life of Warfarin from 26 to 48 hours. And it increased its systematic exposure from 4.55 to 12.08 ng-hr/ml.
Patients taking the combination of these drugs should be watched closely for prothrombin time. The dose they receive of warfarin should be adjusted or decreased until prothrombin time has been reached. If the patient experiences headache, dizziness, pain, vaginal bleeding, nosebleeds, increased menstrual flow, prolonged bleeding from cuts, brown or red urine, black or red stools, or unusual bleeding and bruising, they should contact their doctor immediately. The mixture of anavar with anisindione or dicumarol is the same as the interaction that is seen when anavar and warfarin are combined.
Mixing Anavar and Leflunomide
Leflunomide is a drug that is commonly used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
When an individual has rheumatoid arthritis, their immune system does not properly identify the body as itself and proceeds to attack healthy tissues that surround the joints. The drug is used to reduce inflammation and swelling.
Using the drugs anavar and leflunomide together may induce hepatotoxicity, which can increase the risk of liver damage. It can take anywhere from nine days all the way to six years for liver injury to occur. Most likely though, it will happen within the first 6 to 12 months of using these drugs together.
The reaction that a person has to taking anavar and leflunomide is the same that is seen when taking the mixture of anavar and teriflunomide. It is important for individuals who are taking leflunomide or teriflunomide in combination with anavar to consult with their doctor if they experience fatigue, rash, fever, itching, anorexia, nausea, pale stools, dark urine, right upper quadrant pain, malaise, and jaundice.
There is also a significant interaction with diabetes medications like glipizide, oral hypoglycemic medications, carbamazepine, and adrenal cortical steroids. It is possible that the use of these drugs can interfere with laboratory tests like thyroid function tests. Also, it is possible for them to cause false test results.
Understanding anavar and drug interaction can help doctors and pharmacists understand its effectiveness and toxicity. Also, it can help them to monitor their patients and adjust their prescribed dosage.
