The Supplement Known as Chondroitin Sulfate
Chondroitin sulfate helps to hold water and nutrients in the bones and cartilage of your body. The cartilage is important to keep the bones of your joints from rubbing together, which can cause pain and stiffness.
Chondroitin sulfate provides help to the joints so they can absorb the shock of repetitive movements from running, walking or jumping.
As the body ages, enzymes can break down the cartilage and chondroitin sulfate blocks those enzymes.
Glucosamine Sulfate Supplement for Joint Health
This supplement helps maintain the cartilage found in the spaces between the joints. It’s a natural amino acid that’s produced by the body to make glycosaminoglycan. It’s an ingredient that helps repair broken cartilage or strengthen weakened cartilage, which can be caused by aging and injuries.
Those with arthritis pain can get relief from Glucosamine because it increases the production of lubrication for the joints. The supplement can be found naturally in the shells of crabs, shrimp, lobster and other shellfish.
The Organic Sulfur Compound Methylsulfonylmethane
It’s also known as MSM, and it occurs naturally in some vegetables, grains and fruits. The tissue that connects the joints in the body is made from sulfur, and taking an organic sulfur compound like MSM can help the body replenish the connective tissue that might be lacking. Although, there have been no scientific studies to test the medicinal properties of MSM, at least one study showed that 6,000 milligrams of MSM numbed some joint pain.
Supplements Should Not Replace Medical Treatment
Supplements are to be taken with any treatments prescribed by a medical professional. They shouldn’t replace your doctor’s advice. Your doctor should know about the supplements taken to check for drug interactions and to watch for dangerous or unpleasant side effects. The supplements can cause side effects like increased blood glucose, blood pressure or cholesterol as well as upset stomach and constipation.
